City to plant over 1,400 native plants in Earl Bales

Over the next two weeks, Urban Forestry will be planting over 1400 native trees and shrubs in Earl Bales.

This is part of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation’s plan to increase the urban tree canopy, improve biodiversity, restore the native plant community and to prevent soil erosion, following large tree removals and invasive vegetation management. Great news for our local biodiversity and green spaces.

The planting is considered “Essential” given the potential for soil erosion and lost investment of effort made to control invasive vegetation.
